Tyron Spearman is editor of the Peanut Farm Market News, a three times per week newsletter on the peanut markets (usually the hottest news in the peanut industry, as the newsletter is in its 20th consecutive year) and is Marketing Editor of The Peanut Grower Magazine which is mailed to over 10,000 peanut farmers.
Tyron is also Executive Director of the National Peanut Buying Points Association, formerly the Southern Peanut Warehouseman's Association. Buying Points, now totaling over 415, weigh, inspect, and often store peanuts as well as pay the farmer as a commissioned buying station for the sheller.
He has held many leadership positions such as District Director of Master 4-H Club, Vice President of Communications for the Southwest Georgia Tourism Association, and is a two-time President of the Exchange Club of Tifton. Tyron is currently the Executive Director of the Tifton-Tift County Tourism Association, the Executive Director of the Georgia Agrirama Foundation, Inc, and the Marketing Editor for The Peanut Grower and The Pecan Grower magazines.
Tyron also served 10 years as the Executive Secretary of the Georgia Peanut Commission based in Tifton, Georgia, managing over $3 million in research and promotion dollars for peanuts. He initiated the American Peanut Council's Export Promotion Program, visited over 12 countries promoting peanuts, and is a former president of the American Peanut Council.
